Transition Services

Kidspace occupational therapists can provide transition services to support adolescents and teenagers as they grow and require increased access to work and leisure in the community.  OTs can assess individual performance and needs across a variety of environments and create a plan of care to foster independence.

Our occupational therapists can work with adolescents and teenagers in a number of settings to help develop various skills:

  • Home environment – ADLS, IADLS, health education, sensory lifestyle programming
  • Local neighborhood – safe mobility, running errands, identifying leisure options close to home
  • Broader community – safely navigating public transportation, communicating with local safety officials, accessing community events and groups, volunteer and employment opportunities
  • Peer relationships – identifying leisure opportunities and who to share them with
  • Clinic environment – OTs can utilize the clinic space as needed as a safe space to practice or refine skill development
  • Technology – integrating and utilizing technology as needed to access different areas of home and community life
