Therapist Facilitated Programs to Develop Skills and Connections

The experienced therapists at Kidspace can help you understand your child's developmental progress and suggest programs or strategies to remedy specific delays or concerns. Working in a structured group environment with their peers can reduce anxiety for both children and parents, and improve the likelihood of a successful acquisition of new skills. Social Skills Playgroups are facilitated by experienced Occupational Therapists, Speech Therapists and Psychotherapists. These innovative, age-appropriate groups offer children with a variety of delays and challenges the opportunity to develop social skills in an engaging, play-based format. Playgroups are designed for children ages 4-10+ who will be grouped by age and ability level. Groups meet weekly, with afternoon and Saturday meeting times available.
The objectives of DIR®/Floortime™ Groups are to build healthy foundations for social, emotional, and intellectual capacities rather than focusing on skills and isolated behaviors. Floortime is child-focused—the therapist follows the child's lead with playful positive attention while tuning in to the child's interests. Once the child connects with the adult, specific techniques are used to challenge and entice the child to move up the developmental ladder
